Enlightenment and SuSE 9.1

Ok, I'm probably missing something small here.

I used YaST to install Enlightenment and it installed smoothly after allowing YaST to download a few additional packages....

....now here's my problem. When I'm at the login prompt I don't see anyway to tell it to use Enlightenment.

What am I doing wrong here....or should I say, what step did I miss?

If your using a graphical display manger like kdm, gdm or xdm then you may have to edit the Xsessions file of the display manager and add enlightenment to it.

The easiest way is to run the enlightenment binary and follow the prommpts. It will generate a .xinitrc file with the path to enlightenmentt making it your default window manager. And there should be at the very least a default selection on your display manager. Log in to kde or some other window manager and run enlightenment:

"/usr/local/enlightenment/bin/enlightenment" and select yes at the prompt. Switch over to a virtual console by typing Alt+Ctrl+F2 will take you to a login prompt. Log in and start x on a diffrent console just to see if enlightenment is your default.

startx -- :3

should get you into it until you find a way to add it to your display manager.

In the Suse login, you'll see a button that says "Menu". Click it, and you may select another GUI to use. It will list every one you have installed. This may be easier for you than the other post. Both will work, though.

Yeah, I know it should be there but that's what's wrong, it's not and I'm trying to get it there so I can choose what I want to use each time I log on.

It would be a breeze if you just tell us what display manager you use. But for now I'll assume your using KDM. I don't use display managers on a standalone machine, much easier to just log in and type start x. But here is a handy link..

http://www.linuxjunior.org/cgi-bin/p...=Display&id=79

I have not looked at that link extensively so it may not work for Suse. But either way I would assume if you just look around in /etc or find the kdm Xsessions file it should be in somewhere in /opt on suse, find it and play with it a bit you'll get the picture once you see all your other window managers listed it should be as easy as adding another entry of your choice to it.
