in particular> did you try playing with the windows effects setting from system preferences? I noticed that others had issues with the daedrus install tutorial if they didnt turn of management of widonws effects in system preferences if i understood the post correctly.

at this point i would actually suggest you asking for help in the thread with the directions. I am starting to think i may not be able to help you. I use fedora because i am not real good at setting up programs in slackware ( while i really like slackware) i just have problems getting all the dependencies together. anyways, you might consider posting in that thread to see if it may be something wrong with your install.

1. it seems that while you have compiz on your sytem it refuses to load / start ( correct me if i am wrong )
2. your current window manager is metacity ( based on the pstree command posting )
3. try turning on window composting from the widow menu and see if you get any error back.
4. while i may have wasted your time ( i am sorry if i have ) you will get help from someone here ( see posting to the tutorial thread ).
5. as i am not using slackware currently i am more than rusty with installing applications in it. I thought that your problem might have been something simple like just getting your compiz to load with your session settings but it appears that its on your system and not on your sytem at teh same time ( ??? if it would not load with --replace i am not sure what else to tell you )
