Embedding Chromium or Prism to be like the desktop

I recently tried using Jolicloud/JoliOS and I really like the idea behind it, but I've got lots of problems with the UI. I want to try hacking a similar menu thing together, but to do anything like that, I need to turn my desktop into a browser. Does anyone know how I can do that?

I can't directly solve your problem, but I might be able to point you in a good direction. Take a look at Peppermint One and / or Peppermint Ice OS for what you may be seeking. I think both of those are very well done predominately cloud based OSes that are more or less doing what I think you seek.
