Smile Email spooler

Hello,

I am running 2 servers, one being the mail server for multiple domains.

I had some downtime on the email server due to network problems.
It seems that some mail did not arrive to my users.

So how can I spool the mails on the other server while the mail server is down, to guarantee no mail is lost?
Note that I don't want to create all the email accounts on the other server.

Is adding a secondary MX record enough?

Thanks for your replies ;-)

You also need to tell the backup MX that it's a backup MX.
Regardless, mail servers should continue to attempt delivery for 4 or 5 days before giving up. This is according to RFC 1123.

thanks for your reply.
Well after some more research on the subject, it seems that it is a bad idea to do that as spam to non existing user will bounce from the main server to the backup creating some issues.
As you said, anyway the retry of the sending server will do the job.

That depends. The backup MX can be given a list of all valid recipients to avoid such a problem.
