Email Migration. Outlook Express (Windows) to Thunderbird on Linux

I'm wondering if it's at all possible to export messages from outlook express, that can then be imported to Thunderbird from the exported files?

Obviously you can do this with Thunderbird on Windows..you just use the import wizard and it imports the accounts and everything. BUT is it possible between the two OS's ? Outlook Express is pants for exporting from - the options are limited in the menu.. Anyone know of a workaround?

Just export to Thunderbird on Windows and then from Thunderbird to Thunderbird ie Thunderbird Windows to Thunderbird Linux.
Good luck.

okay...

So does that mean I should be able to save some sort of exported file/folder that the linux version should recognise?

Solution FOUND!

On another thread I found the answer from user OneSeventeen...

Basically I get the windows version of Thunderbird - import my Outlook Express email accounts and settings etc - then

in Windows XP copy the files from here:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Thunderbird

And in linux I moved those files here:
/home/username/.mozilla-thunderbird/

(move the files that were already in the linux folder into a new folder named "old")

Now, when you open up thunderbird, you see all email accounts, old emails, local stuff, etc.

I'll give it a try and let you know how I get on!

1 step closer to ditching windows completely!
