Okay...I have played around with this a while...now I am getting frustrated..so let me spit out whats going on..
I installed Mandrake 8.1, but emacs wasn't there. It could possibly be in the second disc which I never downloaded. However, I do have both my RedHat CDs. So I go ahead and try to install Emacs from my RedHat discs..its just another rpm...right? Wrong....when I try installing RPM through the command line it says "tamago" is required and dependency failed. So I found tamago as a src.rpm and I try installing it...and it installs the source in some /usr/etc/...directory. There is a install-sh which never runs....anyone went through the same ordeal?
As you might have imagined by now, I was born for emacs...I can't just change loyalty to VI at this point
I really appreciate any help in this matter.
