emacs? - how to get help with c++ or c funtions in it?

I am new to emacs and fairly rusty on c programming. I would like to know if there is a way to get help on a particular function in C inside emacs. i.e. if I can't remember how to use fopen or whatever, I would like to press alt+F1 (or anything) to show me the way it should be used.
