Emacs: dump buffer to external clipboard?
Is there an Emacs command or bit of Emacs lisp code that will dump the contents of the current buffer (or perhaps marked region) into the external (Linux) clipboard? (That is, not the Emacs internal clipboard.) This would be rather convenient. Highlighting the text in the terminal doesn't work because a bunch of extra spaces get included, so usually I have to switch to a different terminal, cat the file, and then copy the part I want, which is a bit of a bother.

Yes. But anything you copy has to be shared with everyone (j/k).
Like everything else with emacs, it is more complicated then one would at first believe possible. Here is a page devoted to it: http://emacswiki.org/emacs/CopyAndPaste |
