Editing or adding notes to PDF's

I'm looking for something to add notes to .pdf files other than the overpriced buggy adobe stuff. I download my bank statements and they are in pdf form and curently I have to keep a spreadsheet to add any notes I would like to remember, I think it would be nice if I could just add a note right in the pdf to that line so I don't have to keep a seperate file. I see the full adobe program can do it but I don't want to have to boot into windows, are there are open source tools that will do it? I know there are a lot of viewers but I haven't found anything that can add notes.

This might not be the most intuitive piece of software, but it does edit PDFs: http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfedit

Scribus can do a lot of things with pdfs, you can try it. It's still a bit buggy tho.

Perhaps not exactly what you're looking for, but Xournal (http://xournal.sourceforge.net/) has the ability to annotate PDFs. Although it's more designed for use with a stylus, as it doesn't have a text function, but it's good for highlighting important parts etc.
