easy to configure firewall

I'm looking for a firewall that is easy to configure. I liked Firestarter but wont use it cause it needs gnomelibs, which I don't have. Guarddog I didn't like cause it requires a boot when changes are made.

Distro is Slackware-current

You could try this script http://www.malibyte.net/iptables/scripts/fwscripts.html or try using the popular shorewall firewall.

What's your distro? What are you trying achieve with your firewall too? Are you wanting very fine grained control over what you're allowing in and out of your box / LAN or do you just want to shut everyone out?

IPtables which I believe is included by kernels 2.4 and above is very good, and versatile, but is not that easy to configure if you've no previous experience with it, although there are a large number of good tutorials knocking around t'interweb.

Shorewall is command-line only, but is very easy to setup and has good documentation. There's a good how-to in the Gentoo forums. Just install shorewall using your package manager and then edit the config files as per this article.

The shorewall website also has good documentation.
