easy color changing in ksirc 1.3.11 using KDE 3.3.2 (filter rule editor/perl script?)

What I really want to do is be able to type :: and have ksirc remove that and make the text after it purple. If you use irc, you know what I mean.
Ideally, I'd also have a rule that lets me put something in quotes and have the text be grey or black.. please help me, I really want to get this working. It seems like it should be an easy thing to do, but I can't figure out how.
