e-mail server "in a box"

I was wondering if anyone could make some suggestions as to a good Linux-based e-mail server package that would be, for the most part, easy to install and configure.

I've read some of the tutorials online on how to do it using Sendmail and other software, and it looked to be a pretty involved process... the docs at the Red Hat site looked pretty complex as well too.

This is even something where I might be willing to pay (gasp) for the software if it could simplify life.

Any suggestions? Maybe some of you out there could even point me to a tutorial that would make setting up the software myself a more straightforward process? Thanks very much.

I am a single user person. I set things up for 1 person, and have had no problem doing that with Postfix. I read the README/INSTALL file(s) that come with the package, install according to them, and configure according to them as well. It's about as straight forward as I've found. Shouldn't be too much work even for a n00b as long as you follow the directions very closely.

I do run this on a Slackware 8.1 "Generic" install, so if that makes any bit of difference I figure it'd be worth mentioning...

Cool
