e-mail filtering on evolution
Is there a way to get evolution to reject e-mail from senders not in your addressbook? I can't seem to figure out a way using their filters.

Unfortunately they don't have one that would reject if their not in your address book. You would most likely need to filter them out by using the recipients option. If your address book is fairly large, well, its going to be a big list.

why not use mutt? its faster and got loads of features too...

well, yeah.. it doesn't but... filtering is robust in mutt.. I wanted to tell him that...
i he's trying to get some filtering put for his incoming mails.. mutt would be a better option I felt.. |
I would use Thunderbird since it already has the option I'm looking for but I wanted to use some kind of calendar app to remind me when it's time to pay some bills. I looked at xcal and remind but I would rather use evo.

yeah... xcal as a standalone.. you'll forget to open it and check that!
has happened to me too.. :) good news is that there's gonna be a good filtering support in next version of evolution.. so wait and watch ;) |
Yeah I went to the Ximian site but I couldn't find much info on their development or release schedules.

Evolution Whitelist Contact list Filter
I threw together here that you can find here:
http://www.enek.net/projects.php It's written entirely in C code and should be easy to implement on any *nix system. If there are any problems getting it to work please let me know. I mostly use this filter to make sure that mail from people on my contact list aren't marked as spam by my other spam filters. |
hey, filtering is very well there... I don't know what version of evolution you've been using. You can use the junk mail settings to do that, (its in the Tools-> Settings.) in the new snapshots ( v >= 1.4.x )
