dxr3 microcode upload segfault

help? it's been 7 months since i've switched from windows and had no DVD support. i've downloaded the hw+/dxr3 driver from dxr3.sourceforge.net and have gotten through the installation up to the point of uploading the microcode. at this point (microcode_upload.pl microcode0.bin) i simply get "Segmentation fault" and return to prompt. the same thing happens for both microcode files extracted from my windows dxr3 microcode file (ENC2DEV.VXD). anyone had this problem? know how to fix it? i miss my DVDs!

Have you modprobed/insmodded for em8300?

Also I extracted the microcode from rmquasar.vxd (Windows 9x driver) instead. I have found that if you have uploaded microcode since the last time em8300 was loaded, you have to modprobe -r/rmmod it before you can upload another microcode.

EDIT: The rmquaser.vxd file is for the Hollywood plus, not the dxr3, so I could be wrong. Different microcodes can have different behaviours. Also, you'll need to modprobe/insmod adv717x or bt865 depending on the card.
