Question dvdbackup or K3b?

I'm wanting to migrate from windoze xp to Suse and was wanting to know if K3b can rip a DVD to an image (as long as dcss is installed) like dvdbackup does? Just wanting the easiest set-up possible so that I can use DVD Shrink thru Wine.

Why deal with wine? Use acidrip to rip your dvd and then easily use mplayer to watch it, etc. There is also DVD::RIP. And if you have a dvd burner you can burn it to DVD in a suitable format, etc.

I am going to use KDE, I believe dvd::rip is for gtk. Also I hardly ever mess with converting dvd's to avi's. For all of M$'s bs I love the ease of use of DVD Shrink and from what I understand from my research it will work under wine, you simply have to rip an image of the dvd to your hdd as it will not read thru the fake windows to your dvd drive. Therefore I was wondering if K3b will rip and create an image of a dvd just as well as dvdbackup.

Also, the reason I am looking into this is because Suse 9.1 contains 99.5% of all the concurring programs I use in windoze, making migration extremely easy. The only thing I am going to worry about installing is a dcss lib, wine (for dvd shrink) and maybe a few themes. Everything else is already included.

I use kde but also use dvdrip. Their are two many good programs that use gtk, so it is well worth installing all of the needed libraries. I could not imagine not using gtk based programs. You will be really limiting yourself.
