What kind of software is available for Linux that manages an iPod, for example update podcasts, transfer movies, etc... also is there any good way to rip DVDs in Linux, so that I could transfer them to my iPod?

I am not sure if gtkpod can put video on an ipod as I sync mine with iTunes on my mac. but I do do all the ripping and encoding on linux. I Posted the script I'm using in another thread:
