DVD Shrink

Is there a linux equivelant to the windows DVD Shrink app?

IE) an app which takes your dvd, re-encodes it lowering the bitrate and calculates the compression based on size of DVD+R all in one automatically.

Especially designed for lazy people

Tried DVD::rip but not quite the same.

well this guy seems to actually want dvd reencoding, rather than divx encoding... i know it's possible, but i'd not have a clue how to start implementing it in acidrip....

im not aware of an all-in-one tool for the job but i would have thought you could use mplayer(mencoder) to make a new mpeg2 stream and then use dvdauthor and mkisofs(from dvdrecord) to get the ifo files and make a new iso image.

google for how to make a dvd in linux and just use the ripped vob's from the original as your starting video and you should get there.
