dvd:rip output dolby surround sound?
 

I have googled this and this info should be easy to find, but it isn't(for me). It seems that dvd:rip does not encode to 5.1 dolby surround sound. I don't see any option to choose 2-channel or 5-channel audio in the menu(assuming the ripped dvd contains 5.1). Question: does dvd:rip output 5.1 surround when encoding to mpeg4? If it does do I need to install support for this?

I've never used more than 2 channel, so I'm hardly an expert. But if you select the AC3 tab (instead of the MP3 tab) on the transcode page doesn't it just pass the DVD audio track through to the output? The sound data is about 3x larger with this selection.
