Instead of paying out for a commercial distribution, you should be installing Debian.

Any of the versions we've mentioned can be obtained free of charge.

Yup Sorrodos is correct and you can even get Red Hat 9 free as a download.

I installed mandrake 9.1 and everything works fine now, even sound sound issues i was having in gnome are fixed!

Also bought the latest Debian distro just to see what its like.

I hope that you are going to show your friends and neighbors how well your new GNU/linux system works and all of its advantages and freedoms, and why they should also should change from using proprietary operating systems.

oh yeah definately. I'm soooo chuffed with linux, and I'm keen to spread the word. I'm constantly trying to convince my counterstrike clan that linux is the way forward, and with some success too!

I just need to figure it all out and learn how it all works so I can show people how much more you can do with it. As soon as i get winex 3 and my internal modem working its bye-bye windows.
