I'm having strange problems getting the menus to work correctly with qdvdauthor 0.0.8 & dvdstyler 1.3b. The movies author and play fine but the problems are with the menu buttons in both programs. here are the difficulties:

Qdvdauthor:
The buttons (text only) display correctly on the menus, and if you click on them they play the correct movie clip. But when you move the cursor over then menu items nothing ever highlights. Fine if you are using xine and you can see where the mouse cursor is, but on a stand-alone DVD player you wouldn't know what you are highlighting.

DVDStyler:
The buttons simply don't show up in the menus. If I mouse the mouse cursor over where the buttons should be the cursor changes, if I then click where the buttons should show then again, the correct movie clip plays. Yet again fine if you are using xine and you can see where the mouse cursor is, but on a stand-alone DVD player you wouldn't know what you are highlighting.

To test I'm using Xine 1rc7 with Xine UI 0.99.1.

For now I'm just using Varsha 0.71 to author DVDs with simple menus with black blackground's and plain blue text.

any thoughts?

I am having the same problem with DVDStyler 1.3. The buttons display OK in the program but are invisible in the final product. If anyone discovers a solution for this problem, please let me know.

I had teh smae invisible button problem using Slackware 10,
I'd compiled dvdauthor-0.6.10 from source, it all looked ok....

In the end I tracked it down, I tried dvdauthor-0.6.9 but that was the same,
but I tried dvdauthor-2773 (the latest alpha I could find) and that works,
not perfectly, there's some slightly weird buttons in the first column,
but hey, I can see the buttons now!!!!

I am experiencing the old "invisible button in menus" bug of DVDStyler 1.31 and it is getting very old and no real fix or workaround that work for all has been found I think.

Compiling the latest alpha of dvdauthor fails on my system. (Unknown why...)

I tried different versions of dvdauthor and imagemagick (since the bug is said to stem from those 2 being incompatible in some versions), Scoured the bug tracking system and the mailing list (noy much there)

So... If there is someone out there who has a fix and keeps it for himself, please share.

Hi all, i am trying to make menu for my DVD.
I created 2 menu items, one for each clip i put in to my DVD.
Everything seems to be ok, but it is not possible to choose any clip and if i try with PLAY only the first clip is suitable.
What am i missing?
In the left there is something like this:

Disc
TitleSet 1
Menu
MenuItem Clip1 (jumped to clip1)
MenuItem Clip2
Title1
Video --> /path/to/clip1
Video --> /path/to/clip2

Wow - you guys are doing way better than I. I tried to learn how to make the .xml file for DVDauthor and I about went nuts.

I am currently researching qdvdauthor and it's asking for several other apps that I am trying to track down. I guess I got spoiled on apt-get packages.

I kicked out Varsha and i am using DVDStyler 1.4.
I made many beautiful goodworking menus using DVDStyler 1.4, do you?
