Hi all,
First post here, so be easy on me
I am running Fedora Core 1, and got this script written to do a backup. Ran manually it works great and decided then to run it as a cron job at night. I am running Dar (2.10) to backup all my files into a single bzip2 (1.0.2) archive and then burn that archive to a rewritable dvd using growisofs (2.01a07).
Through cron, it gets as far as making the archive but wont write to the dvd. I have a feeling its the screen output text and the countdown part of mkisofs that is causing the problem. I remember some time ago hearing that cron doesnt like 'noisey' programs.
I tried the -quite switch for mkisofs to make it less verbose. You are meant to be able to use it with growisofs, but it doesnt work and I get an error saying that switch is not recognised. Has anyone got a bright idea or point me to a hidden gotcha?
Thanks guys.
