I just installed Mandrake 10.0 on my laptop along with my original Windows XP OS. I set it up to have the Windows partition of the hard drive first and then following it was Mandrake. When I first had the computer running I had Mandrake on FIRST and it would come up to the boot loader and I could select Linux. After that, I installed Windows on the first part of the partition and it now just automatically loads windows. I am just needing some help as how to figure out how to load the Mandrake OS again. Thanks
**also I do not have a floppy drive on this laptop so if a boot disk was the answer I guess that wouldn't work.
By installing Windows second, you'll have allowed it to overwrite whichever bootloader Mandrake uses with its own bootloader, which naturally isn't going to give two hoots about your Linux partition. If you boot from the installation CD/DVD as usual and reinstall Mandrake, you should be able to reinstall whichever bootloader Mandrake uses ( LILO? ) - the installation program will usually recognise your XP partition and give you the option to boot into Windows if you really feel the need.
I reinstalled the Mandrake OS and it got the boot loader up and running again. But now whenever I choose to load linux-smp or any other option it goes through and then when it says something about mixer setting in the boot it starts a really load beeping noise and does nothing from then on. If you know what's wrong let me know. Thanks.

hi kid,
re dual boot, if u have to reinstall xp again u will lose lilo again. to reinstall u have to boot into linux and restore lilo, say, run command sbin/lilo. or i guess there is an option in the mandrake cd to go to rescue mode where u r given option to reinstall lilo. u may check that out.
re mixer setting, try to boot in failsafe mode and check the boot error messages.
""iMounting sysfs on /sys [ok]
unmounting initrd: unmount: /initrid: device is busy [failed]
Your systems appears to have shutdown uncleanly""
When I ran it in failsafe mode these are the main issues that stood out when going through the boot. And then it tells me that the system was shut down uncleanly.
**it also says:
bringing up interface etho: [failed]
