Talking Duel Boot

I want to have Windows 2K Pro on one hd and Slackware Linux on another hd on the same computer. Can I get a menu to come up so I can select which OS I want to start. If so can someone please tell me how.

Thx

Either install Lilo or you can use the W2k bootloader to choose between OS's..
You can also use Grub but Slackware doesn't come with it by default, but it does come with Lilo though...

They have howto's at www.tldp.org

very dangerous question
people say that we can erase mbr through fdisk /mbr
but it is not true for lilo and grub.
i have a strange way which i use always . it is ranish partition manger. http://come.to/ranish
there is an option in it to do the mbr "standard ipl" (after installing linux or any other os it becomes unknown ipl) so do the mbr "standard ipl".

and sometimes installtion of windows works but not always and in case of grub it is very difficult.

i am also looking for any other way. if any body knows please tell us.

fdisk /MBR always works for me when wiping out the MBR... hasn't failed me yet, wiping out Grub or Lilo...

were did you put the lilo boot thing? You may have to change your bios to boot from hd1 / d: instead of hd0 / c:
