As I remember 1st language then partitioning, so 1st of all is your "separate Drive listed in the BIOS? And is it an IDE Disk or an SATA or SCSI Disk cause Seagate an the capacity isn't so much of interest in thoses days with new bios, motherboard chipsets and new kernels.
Maybe you'll have to change the SATA Operation Mode in the Bios or load an additional driver so that the disks appear in the Setup of your "Ubundu" Ubunutu . Which Dapper Draker, Feisty ?
