From what I have seen, anything is possible with linux

Does anyone know if there is a way to have 2 mice & 2 mouse cursors?
eg, one PS2 mouse and one USB

One good reason to have this would be if you had dual displays, and someone wanted to pay a simple game on the other display or do other thins.

ha, wouldn't it be great if you could have 2 keybords as well! lol

Yes it is possible.

Most notebooks have a mouse on board and they can have a second one, USB or serial.

I have seen a lot of docu about that. Look (google) linux - notebook or at www.tuxmobile.org in the laptop sector, I saw by Asus something about it.

I know you can have 2 mice that work with the same cursor... like when you move one mouse, it will move the cursor, and the other mouse will move the same cursor (fighting over the same cursor)

But, can you have 2 cursors?

Hi there,

This is my first post and i'm a total newbie.

Not only do i know nothing about Linux, i dont know that much about PC's in general. I was recommended to try this place by the mods at another forum, as they unfortunately couldn't help me.......I hope you guys can...

I need to be able to have two mice connected to one computer (done that bit!) and have 2 mice pointers on the screen and working at the same time. The above posts are gobbledygook to me unfortunately, but i have hope as i assume it is possible.

Can anybody please help me in my strange quest?????????

I think it is possible in X. read anything you can get about Xconfig (X86 or Xfree that depends on your distro)

There is a config file normaly in /etc.

In this file X (the windowsmanager) is told what mouse there is, on which port and how to react.
(the same for displays etc)

It is worth a try but keep in mind that if you spoil the file X want work and you have to use the console to restore the file. ( So make a copy!! an be careful)

i have seen this done on windows before. It was done with a special mouse though and jsut one. It would switch cursors when ou clicked a button. So i would think it is possible but it will probably be rather difficult. Also i dont think you will be able to focus on two different windows at once. This was the same on the windows dual cursor setup i saw.
