Alright. This is my set up that I spend 3 days still not getting a dual boot with Linux and win2k!!! :(
2 harddisks (1 scsi and 1 ide) My win2k on scsi (NTFS). linux on ide (FAT). both can boot if i switch the bios to start from either scsi or ide drive. Now, i want to be given an option during start up. [Either from linux or win2k, i dont care.] I tried all sorts of method given from the net that people claimed to work. From LiLo(point to /dev/sda?), to modifying win2k-boot.ini [with my 512 byte linux.lnx file]. Du! All not working.Could some wiseman/lady please spare some thoughts to help me out? IF your configuration is similar to mine, please email me on what's wrong. I'm really frustrated with my 100 times re-booting. Thanks! |
why is linux formatted as FAT?
im not sure if ntfs is supported but hey. in the lilo.conf file there should be a section for linux which points to (providing it is the primary master on the ide) /dev/hda1 the win2k drive section should have a bit which points to /dev/sda1 technically that should all be fine. just run lilo afterwards and things should be fine (just make sure you have a boot disk for both systems before you start fiddling with these things) Alex P.S. sorry im a bit useless when it comes to scsi drives |
