Just some questions.

DSL as in damn small linux? Adding a driver to it may be possible with ndiswrapper. It is a special distro, not easy to add in modern devices.

Yes, broadcom is always a problem. Using fedora should be similar to various other distro's based on red hat. Plenty of web pages on how to run it. Centos and Fedora may be somewhat similar since they are based on red hat. Fedoara may come with more consumer drivers but usually not broadcom.
There are plenty of web pages at LQ about broadcom.
