drqueue won't install in ubuntu

I need to set up a maya renderfarm, and I thought the best way to do it would be with drqueue and ubuntu server edition. Unfortunately, the drqueue documentation is not very good, and I am having the same problem installing drqueue on both i386 ubuntu and ppc ubuntu machines.

Following the instructions at http://drqueue.org/twiki/bin/view/Ma...allationManual for 'installation from source' with the file drqueue.0.62.1.tgz (though the problem also exists with all other versions available for download), when I type 'sudo make' from within the drqueue directory, after it has made some progress I get a long list of errors that goes by very fast, some of the last ones (that I can see when the prompt returns) look like this:
Code:
main.c:77: warning: implicit declaration of function g_signal_connect
main.c:77: warning: implicit declaration of function g_GTK_OBJECT
main.c:78: warning: implicit declaration of function G_CALLBACK
main.c:78: error: gtk_main_quit undeclared (first use in this function)
main.c:79: warning: implicit declaration of function gtk_widget_set_usize
(...)
make[1]: *** [main.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory '/usr/local/drqueue-0.62.1/drqman'
make: *** [drqman] Error 2
I know that setting up a drqueue-based renderfarm is pretty esoteric knowledge, but if anybody can help I would greatly appreciate it.

I am hoping to have machines that are dedicated renderers, and I would like to minimize the per-machine setup time, so if I can do everything (at least on a slave machine) without installing a window manager, that would be best.

Thanks.
