dropline 2.6 + X.org

I am going to install dropline 2.6, it is a gnome packages for slackware. In this release they have switched from Xfree to X.org's implementation of the X windowing system. My question is can i use the same configuration file between the two products? Also what advantages are there in the X.org software? better performance? Thanks for the help.

I just changed over to the X.org release and all I had to do was copy my current config into the xorg.conf file and all was set. The current release of X.org is basicly the same as the current release of Xfree86.
