I downloaded Mozilla in its gz format. I couldn't get to the mozilla.org website for some reason (Netscape would just exit), so I downloaded it from freshmeat. I go into the folder in which it resides, and every time I press the icon to install, a GNOME window comes up and says that no action is being taken. I don't know what to do.

are you doing this from root? for tarballs, imo, it's easier to just use the cli and su to root from your user account and then enter the install shell script file name.

I have almost always stuck to the command prompt, because of the many hardware issues that I've had with the configuring of X. I all but gave up until I found this site. I am trying to learn all there is to know about the GUI now.

I am not THAT experienced with Linux anyway. I am a computer programmer, who build computers, and learned a lot from DOS. I took this with me to Linux and have been better for it. I am definitely not a guru and never professed to be.
