Downloading From Internet
What is the best way to download from the net? Do I name a file? The first window gives the choice of opening with or saving to a disc. I choose save to disc and I can either save it there at /home/dad or create new directory. If I create new directory what are the steps? What do I name it? What would it look like?

Usually if it doesn't download preserving the name of the file from the remote server, you want to name it the same in most cases, or at least if it has a particular extension like say .rpm or .tar.gz, you will want to keep that the same when saving. But really you can save it however you want, that's your choice.

So, would I create a new directory for it while preserving the name?

In M$ I would download to a file that I had created for updates. I would choose save it to file, specify my computer/C:/updates and then would go to that file to open. Once opened I could delete that folder from my updates. Is this the same in Linux?

I do the same. Usually I create a folder in my home directory for the particular download, or simliar downloads (like Java for instance) and save the file there. I like keeping them in case I need to do the update again, or on another machine.

Thanks for the help.
