downloaded apache +RH mysql + RH php would it work?

I'm really getting frustrated at how hard it is to install stuff under linux. The only reason I'm doing a manual install and not using the apache/php/mysql on the RH CD is because those ones are old and buggy. But apache is the most buggy, and I got it working now by doing the manual way of installing using ./configure and all that.

But now I'm having problems with mysql, and I can guarantee I'll have problems with php. So if I installed php and mysql from the red hat disk, would it still work even though apache is not from the red hat CD?

Or, if I install the RH apache, is there a way to fix the $_POST bug and also the mod_rewrite module? Those are realy the two main bugs that stop me from using the preconfigured ones that install from the CD.
