I think that should have all the info you asked for?
Go here, click on "advanced seach" to the right of the "search" button, un-check all other Linux distributions except yours, copy and paste "glibc-2.2.5" in the search field. On the next page(s), you'll find that this package does not exist for your distribution. Which means the other package you're trying to install that requires this one as a dependency is also not the right one for your distribution.
Maybe I'm going down the wrong path. When attempting to run a program (called dcl), I get the following error:
./bin/dcl: relocation error: /lib/libs7pthread.so: symbol _h_errno, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference
I read somewhere online, that I need, at the latest, libc-2.2.5.so (libc.so.6 is currently pointing to libc-2.3.4.so)? Based off this error, would you agree with what I found? If that is true, and 2.2.5 is not available for my version...this would mean I'm out of luck for running "dcl", correct?
How are you installing dcl and where did you get it from? What is it supposed to do?
In Fedora (Redhat's development distro more or less) we have compat-libX (X varies depending on needs) that allow us to run programs that were built for older versions of gcc. Assuming that it is similar in RHel4 (and it should be) this may be a place to start.
I did search for compat-lib for RHel4...but, I couldn't find any that fit my needs. lazlow, you seem to have more of an expertise on compat-libX than I do...would you be able to do a quick search to see if you found something to fit my needs.....OR, tell me where you think I could look for this?
