download .flv

The Firefox extension "DownloadHelper" is great and allows you to download .flv files from many sites.Doesnt currently work for the BBC though.

You could always do it the long way.

about:cache

then find find the appropriate item / URL. You can always save as and grep it out of the file. Although find does alright if you don't mind weeding through 1,000 small graphic url's until you find what you're looking for.

wget -c URL

In the case of vimeo, and other shockwave flash types, it saves a file in /tmp/.

cp /tmp/Flash????? ./vimeo_#######.swf

Or just use mplayer if you don't want to archive it.

mplayer -vo xv -ao alsa /tmp/Flash*

I'm on dialup, so it's the only way I can view things media-ish without bumping through half a second at a time.

Or the View Source way.

flv: rtmpt://cp48502.edgefcs.net/ondemand/48502/persian/flash/2008/10/beijing_16x9_16x9_bb.flv

Interesting protocol. Appears to be http over port 80. But it's streaming which will never work on dialup AFAIK. And nothing is cached AFAIK.

The following are a few that can help download the flash video.

http://www.clipnabber.com/
http://keepvid.com/

In your case, I suggest use a DV or DVD camcorder and use X11 zoom feature to zoom into the video closer. Next with the camera, record it. The above sites do not support the protocol.

BTW, please keep this forum religious free.

No, you were provided two links to software which will help you do what you want. Follow the links and the instructions.

And I agree (again), to please keep the forums religion free. Please try to respect others and their beliefs (or lack thereof), as you would have them respect you. If you can't, perhaps there's another forum where it would be welcomed....

Hmm..clipnabber worked for me, as did a Firefox plugin.

And please, I never said it CONTRADICTED anyones freedom...just that it makes some uncomfortable. No one should have to be uncomfortable, so someone else CAN be.

There is not one specifically for BBC. Clipgrabber worked for me as well. And did you respond to the moderator yet???
