Hello everybody!!!

I am using Conectiva Linux 7. I have some workstations that I migrated to this Linux distribution. In our company we (still) have a Cobol system in a Netware 4.11 volume.

No problem because Linux has a software called dosemu.

Well, at first, I configure to mount a ncp volume and remap via LREDIR.EXE. My system worked but too slowly... So I looked for a solution for this issue and I have no success. After that I had an idea to don't use LREDIR and install the VLM inside of dosemu. I enabled dosemu.conf to be IPX ready. In the dosemu environment I just ran VLM. Great! The netware worked and as quickly as it would run outside linux. When suddenly CRASH! Kernel panic in midst of running the system!

I didn't believe... I dont know how to do that! Somebody can tell if I am doing right or not? How can I do now? Do I need give up the idea of installing Linux in spite of install M$ Windows?

You need the NCPfs utils for linux to mount novell partitions.

I dont know if you understood what I mean... Sorry about it...

I used the command as follows:

ncpmount -S <server> -V <volume> -U <user> -P <password>
/<mount point>

In the DOSEMU I ran:

C:\ > LREDIR F: LINUX\FS\<mount point>

Then I ran my COBOL... IRCRH!!!! Too slow... But works...

So I tried VLM (Novell Client inside DOSEMU).... Good speed.... But... CRASH!!!!!!!! A kernel panic shows me that DOSEMU.BIN made general protection failed at somewhere address memory...

Some body has an idea?

I believe the ncpfs is native to linux (not dosemu) it allows you to mount a volume. If you are trying to run a cobol program? Try searching for a compiler (tinycobol)?
