Does Gimp reach Photoshop level?

Hello guys,
today I begin to use Gimp under Slackware. I have a positive experience with Photoshop, I've used this software for years so my feeling with it had increased. Gimp, in my humble opinion, is more chaotic than Photoshop. Several windows everywhere for example. In your opion opinion ih the future Gimp could reach Photoshop?

Thank you in advance.

Simon.

Here is a little project that may not change your mind about Gimp vs. Photoshop but it does make Gimp feel a little more PhotoShopish. Not currently for Linux yet though.

I respectfully suggest that, instead of asking about *opinions* of Gimp, use google to search the web for *examples* of Gimp at work.
Opinions are like assholes: everybody has one. That doesn't make any one better than the others.
Another way of looking at it: find examples of the work Gimp users are turning out. See if the quality stacks up to Photoshop. That's the bottom line. If you can still get the quality.
To be sure, it isn't Photoshop. It's the Gimp. Any time you change from one app to another which does the same kind of thing, you will have to get used to a somewhat different way of doing things. If the Gimp has several windows everywhere, and that disturbs you, then close the windows you don't need. Set your preferences to open only the windows you want on startup, then open others as you need them. As for the chaotic bit, Linux systems try to use a method of placing windows as they open so that they don't cover one another. That can be overridden, for a more windows-unfriendly look that you're more used to.
