Does anything similar to Apple's Final Cut Pro exist for Linux?
 

My question is whether or not there are any programs for creating multimedia presentations for Linux. Currently I am using Screenblast Movie Studio (http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.co...ct.asp?PID=856) on my PC. This seems to be working well. It is kind of similar to Apple's Final Cut Pro (http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro), except fairly watered down. Basically, I want to know, if I take my PC and turn it into a Linux machine, are there any software programs similar to the ones I just mentioned that will work on it?

It's more than one prgram, you will have to browse the site to see if they have an application that meet your needs. They also deal with video.

Yeah there is more, you might try Totem, or Real Player too.

Alright, I'll keep looking at that site. By the way, what is totem? Also, Real Player is software for viewing multimedia presentations right? Atleast that's what it is for Windows, I think.

Totem is a multimedia player, (it's what I use to listen to CDs and watch Videos) came standard with Mandrake 9.2 so does Real Player and you can view movies with both of them. Real Player is also on Windows.

Thanks Crito, that's more like what I'm looking for, and while that program I think is too much for my computer, I'm gona check the links that it has, but that's on the right track. Does anyone else know of any other programs a long these lines that are less demanding of the computer?

I would consider both cinerella and avidemux2.

When MPlayer G2 comes out - which could be several years from now - it will make an excellent backend for a flexible, full-featured video editor and player that knocks the socks off of everything in the consumer market now.

Meanwhile it takes a lot of work to get anything serious done, and the tools that are out there are imperfect.

Have any of you used cinerella, because I have a P3 1.6GHz or so, with 256MB Ram, and an 80GB harddrive, do you think that I could run that program on this computer, or would the computer drown?
