what type of client/server database does your client run?
|
The client runs a Delphi custom made software with a embedded database solution (dbisam 4.3), it use that program on windows workstations, the program is an ERP used for administrative issues.
I'm not much of a database guru but a think it is a relational database, i found the link of the database developer

Can you describe what type of network issues your client is experiencing?
|
You can do Querys on the database, but it give an error for delayed writing every time the system need to make a receive (went there's a sale), after that the database is corrupted and needs to be fixed, after you fix the tables you can see that the program did store the sale.
This happens in all 5 machines so i don't think is hardware related.

What do you mean by "apart from that everything else seems to work fine"
|
I mean that all station can share files, surf the web and run other applications without problems.

Those particular tests require a dedicated cable tester. There are some network monitoring tools like nagios, traceroute, netstat, iptraf, tcpdump, strace and ping are some that come to mind that might provide a clue.

I can ping all stations, and traceroute, I haven't use anything else, but since the client is a bit far in the country and i don't have certification equipment I wondered if there was a way I can check the cables with my laptop.
