Distorted graphics after running vmware

I'm running gnome with sarge 3.1. Ever since the system crash I had today I have had this weird problem. Where everytime |I start a virtual machine it distorts grpahics on the desktop. It also affects vlc as well. But everything is fine when I dont run vmware. This isn't always the case though occisionly I can run it without problems.

Never mind it's fixed now. Running the virtual machine in full screen as soon as it's powered on seems to have fixed it. U can do this via the vm settings.

As a side note, how do you like Vmware? Right now Im just using my old laptop hooked up with a belkin device that allows me to use the one mouse and keyboard to control both my Linux box (so it finally gets to stay running for my home webserver) and I can switch over to my laptop with two clicks of keys on my keyboard. I was thinking about getting VMWare, have you found any programs that it wont run yet? Whats the good, and the bad?

the vmware manual says you shouldnt choose graphical login at boot

vmware is great for runnign any apps....tho u should have lots of ram for it and processing power if ur giong to do real work on it
dont try to run anything graphical in it....even screensavers

Running windows on vmware is actually very stable. I have been running it for months and it hasn't crashed on me so far. It even emulates USB controller. It's fast on my athlon 64bit 3 gig with a gig of ram. Though I think it's network infrastrcture stinks cos it's quite slow. Althrough it shows it's running at 1gig per second I have been told it actually works out to be 10mbs.

It has a shared folders option which allows easy tranfer of files between vm and host. It was easy to install as well.
