disabling gnome themes
is it possible to disable gnome themes, so that programs such as Firefox or Xchat display there original skin/theme and not a gnome theme? im running Vector Linux 5, with fluxbox.

I put this in my home directory;
.gtkrc-2.0 Code:
gtk-icon-theme-name = "Wasp" |
thanks comprookie2000, changing the .gtkrc-2.0 file worked, and programs are now a normal grey (not that pinstripe blue colour ;/ is there a line i can add to the file to increase the font size?

I think you can but I can't remember how. For firefox I just change the dpi.
It is in the fonts advance menu. I just did a search and there are alot of hits with .gtkrc-2.0 fonts like http://jamesclarke.info/notes/GtkFonts |
thanks alot :)

Here is some fluxbox themes if you want to check them out.
They will be the ones ending in tar.gz or tar.bz2. I have some other stuff mixed in there... http://www.abbottdavid.com/styles/ Also if you have an LCD save as this file in your home directory; http://www.abbottdavid.com/styles/.fonts.conf Helps the fonts alot. If it doesn't just delete it. You will need to restart X for the changes I think. |
yeah ill try those themes for fluxbox, ive only been using it for about a week now, but i prefer its flexibility and speed over Gnome or Kde. i have another question for you, regarding fluxbox, when i add users to my system, which files should i edit to set a theme and background for all users? any other tips or tricks you can give me on fluxbox would be much appreciated.

Each distro may be different mine is in;
/usr/share/fluxbox/init Each user should have /home/therename/.fluxbox/init once they start fluxbox for the first time. This is a good read; http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/docbook/en/html/ |
hmm, once i have created a new user,i dont see any new user folder in the /home directory :confused: but i think this my be a Vector linux specific question, so ill post it in the VL forum.

hey comprookie, those fluxbox styles i downloaded from your site are pretty good, particularly liked 'graphite integration', and 'abbott'(which is yours i believe), theyve given me some ideas on how to improve my own style :)
