Disabling cc-mode Emacs

Dear Community,

Believe me I have tried to solve this problem. I have just started using emacs again, and am now using MATLAB, which requires .m files. Our installation automatically enters Objective-C mode with this file extension, which really messes up my MATLAB files. I finally figured out there is an emacs command "fundamental-mode' that disables this, but is there any way I can prevent this nasty "cc-mode" from automatically starting? Since these are multi-user systems, I cannot just get rid of the cc-mode.el file, or equivalent. Now, I type M-x fm to enter fundamental model (I did an alias in my .emacs file), but this is so primitive!!! How can I edit MATLAB files without entering the Objective-C major mode? Ugh!

Thanks for your help.
