Disable IPV6

In firefox, you can go into about:config and disable ipv6 from there.

I have been having firefox crash on me a lot, so I was thinking of switching to Opera. My question is how do you disable iv6 in the Opera web browser?

You don't have to. The only reason you need to disable it in Firefox is because Firefox has a bug in the way it handles ipv6.
