digiKam: Pictures disappear after using batch rename
 

I've posted elsewhere on the web about this issue but can't seem to figure out the problem. It seems to be a bug, but maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I selected 10 photos and used the batch rename feature (Batch -> Rename Images). Once I had the settings set and accepted the changes, the tool successfully renamed all 10 photos. The problem is I can't see them in digiKam anymore. It's just an empty album. When I navigated to the folder using Dolphin, all the pictures were still there and they were properly renamed. Back in digiKam, it's just an empty folder. I tried moving the photos to a different directory and then adding that folder to digiKam, but it still showed up as an empty folder.

I don't know what to do. How can I get this app to see my pictures again?

Did you try mailing your problem to the Digicam "mailing list" ?

Umm, maybe this suggestion is too simple, but did did you try the function key no.5 <F5>? It forces in many KDE application a re-read / refresh of the active window.

F5 does refresh views in digiKam, but it didn't bring my pictures back.

I signed up for the mailing list and am awaiting a reply. Hopefully someone there can help me with this. My guess is it's a bug and there isn't much I can do.

RESOLVED! :D

I figured out what the problem was. I noticed that when the files got renamed, it didn't add the .jpg suffix at the end of each filename. This caused digiKam to ignore the files thinking they weren't photos. It's still a little odd because Dolphin still recognized them as photos, but whatever. Point is, the problem is fixed. I can see my pictures it digiKam again.
