I use only one user to download the photos with Digikam. I want everybody to have permissions to see the photos, but not to mess with them. So, only the user that download photos have write permission to the directory containing the photos, and nobody else.
But nobody else can use Digikam to see these photos, because they haven't write permissions, and Digikam complains about it.
Is there a way around this?
An alternative to Digikam for managing photo albums?

I installed Digikam a long time ago. I installed the package you can find in www.linuxpackages.net
You may need to install aditional libraries, such as libexif.
Also, if you need to download photos form a digital cammera, and this cammera does not appear as a USB filesystem, like Canon cammeras, you need to install libgphoto2. There is also a libgphoto2 package in linuxpackages.net .
sir, i already have downloaded digikam .0.8, and gphoto2 do i need to download its IMAGEPLUGINS? AND do i really need sqlite and imlib? how about libgphoto? i already have libkexif and libkipi
*my apology for asking too much..i just want to make sure that il be going on the right track..*
