Digikam 0.8.0/SuSe 10 Won't Display Tif Files

When I import TIF files or save a JPG file as a TIF using Digikam, the image in both thumbnail and edit view in Digikam is just black. I can open TIFs in The Gimp properly, so I know there's really an image there!

New to Linux, probably missing something simple!

Linux doesnt work with tif, cause i have made tifs on my second win xp box and tried to import them to my slackware setup but im not able to read them. Did what you did tried the gimp, kview, digikam nothing works though, maybe tifs do but i cant get them to go and i have been at it a while now
Edit: why are you using tif, cause first off its an uncompressed file format so it takes massive space to store them, also jpg is just as good and it is supported by all systems

I can view tif files successfully (even jpg files saved as tif in Digikam) in The Gimp and Gwenview, but not in Digikam or Showphoto.

I use tif because I do a lot of image manipulation and subsequent saves. jpg, I believe uses lossy comression, so I've not used it for image saves after manipulation. Pehaps I should look at png format?

Thanks for the feedback.

If your doing series manipulation and using Gimp, then you should consider saving it as a psd. Cause a psd saves all the layers made, and it not lossy cause every detail is saved.
