"Difficulty" menu missing in knetwalk game

I have 5 partitions with windows xp and several version of linux. One version is Mint 6 and the knetwalk game in that distribution is missing the 'difficulty' menu. Only the 'easy' level is available. In Ubuntu 8.04 the knetwalk game has a difficulty menu and four levels of difficulty.

Anyone know why this game would be missing the levels?

Different revisions, different patches, etc. There are a lot of reasons it could have a different feature set.

I suppose. But I never saw a revision or patch completely remove such a large part of a game.

It maybe an additional patch one distribution is adding to increase functionality that another doesn't use.
