Difference Between Synaptic Package Manager and Update Manager
 
I've just installed ubuntu 10.04 and see that there are a two type installation software? why there are two things? What are the benefits of these two?

The difference is that first is for software installs and second is to update software.

Synaptic is being replaced by more simple Ubuntu software center.

Yet there is still comand like apt-get that comes useful. i.e if you want to check size before install.
