Dialing from a normal user in slackware 8


Hi, heres the problem, im new to linux and im usin slackware 8
i cant dial up from any user except root, if i type ppp-on
or ppp-up the commands are not found but it works fine in
root, do i need to chmod the modem and set up an allias?
if so how? if not, what do i need to do? can some1 help me
i'm new to linux. Thanks Gizm0

Preferred method is to add any users that need access to modems or serial ports in general to the "uucp" group. As serial ports are typically owned that way.

crw-rw---- root root <device numbers> /dev/ttyS0
