Develop a Simple Media Player app
 
I would like to develop a simple media player application in linux for streaming videos.

My objective is to get a good understanding of a multimedia framework. Hence, wanted to start with such an example.

Any pointers in this regard would be really helpful to me!

Download the VLC and/or the V4L source code, and look at it. It already does what you want.
