/dev/sda and /dev/sda1 disappeared using sii3112A

Hi,
I've got a problem that I can't explain. I've got a SiI3112A PCI serial ATA card that by all appearances is working fine. I've compiled a custom 2.6.8 kernel (which is working perfectly in all other areas) but not this one. Anyway the card is working fine in Windows, and I had it working before in linux, but for some reason with my debian box it's not working at all. Everything appears to be working except /dev/sda and /dev/sda1 (where the drive's ntfs partitions are) aren't there! All other /dev/sd's are there including /dev/sda2 and so on. My /proc/partitions file reads it to be there as well.

Here's the appropriate bootup messages: Everything seems to be working fine.

Can anyone give a possible explanation?
